CYCLE AGAINST THE CARRAIGEWAY

Sat 18th - Sun 19th September

You are warmly invited to a cycle ride to oppose the building of a 55-mile stretch of dual carriageway from Aughnacloy to Derry. By cycling we hope to
promote one environmentally-friendly alternative to driving and highlight the senselessness of investing in the future of a transport system based on
fossil fuel consumption. We envisage a future of decreasing car use and increasing public transport links, in turn making the roads a safer place
for cyclists!

*Saturday 18th September: Monaghan- Omagh (27 miles)*

Meet Monaghan Court House, 10am. Stops at Aughnacloy, Ballygawley, Kelly’s
Inn. Bring lunch; dinner and accommodation will be provided in Omagh.

*Sunday 19th September: Omagh- Derry (33 miles)*

Meet Omagh Court House, 10am. Stops at Newtownstewart, Sion Mills, Strabane,
New Buildings.

The ride is open to all, not just seasoned cyclists, and will be at an accessible and leisurely pace. We will be cycling along the existing A5, and
making frequent stops to hand out fliers and talk to people as we go. You can join us for just one day or a section of the ride, or meet us at one of
the various stops. Colourful t-shirts with anti-A5 and pro-railway slogans will be provided, and a bike sound system will be joining the ride. Make
your bike more noticeable with streamers made from plastic bags, tune up your bell and come join us!
